So I've been working on and off all day trying to get photos taken of all my products (particularly the candles). I began by reading several, several articles and blogs with tips on taking quality products and what works best on sites such as Etsy.
Among a few other things, they all had one particular thing in common... use all of the photos when listing. If you have the option of five photos per listing, then use all five. But seriously, how many things can you do with a candle? I don't know if my creativity took a vacation today or if candles, in general, limit the ability to take a variety of shots. I shot my products inside and out with a variety of angles and "back drops". In the end I only ended up with one or two shots of each candle.
Thinking this wasn't enough pics of each item, I began to browse Etsy for candles to see how many images accompanied each listing and what varieties others were using. I came to realize that most of Etsy's candle makers and sellers use only one picture. :0 I also reflected on how I view listings. Even if there are 5 pics per each listing (no matter the product), I typically only click on 1 or 2 pictures. So why do all of the "tips and tricks" advise that you use all 5 photo slots when listing?
Give me your thoughts. How many images do you use on your listings (no matter which site you sell on)? Does the amount of images depend upon the product?
